One of the scariest things about panic attacks is that internal battle, the one that takes place in your mind. So many people have told you, “It’s all in your head.” And, in a sense, they’re right. And, you may even agree in times of calm.
But, it doesn’t help to know it logically, because once your body starts feeling odd, then tense, then accelerated to uncanny levels, that goes out the window. The self-talk may go something like this,
- “It’s just a panic attack, nothing’s really wrong physically.”
- “Oh, I don’t know, that feels pretty bad. What if?”
Etc.. ad infinitum.
